Revit Autodesk is the most used software for the AEC Industry in the USA. A study of the SMART international survey showed that 71% of respondents were in favor of using the Revit model for better decision-making. For the same studies, 72% of respondents claim that the earliest clash detection with Revit models at the earliest stage of design helps them to detect the clashes and solve them. It means the usage of Revit software brings many benefits to the AEC industry. The technology industry continuously launches various updates to this software to make it better.
A new version of Revit was introduced in April 2025. We delve into it to explore these new features. Our team has compiled some of them and their impact on the BIM model. So, let’s start.
Introduction to Autodesk Revit
Autodesk Revit is a tool that is widely used in the AEC industry. It is helpful to create digital 3D models, which enhance the digital walk-through, visualization and collaboration among team members efficiently. It is a tool that simplifies workflows, helps in managing the complex tasks, smooths the on-site execution, and enables the team members to share that data across various platforms.
The new version of Revit was released in 2025, and the professionals use it confidently and easily. The Revit team continuously work for improvements.
Revit 2025 Version and Important Features
Here we will discuss the top 10 features that have been added in the Revit.
1. New Revit Home for Smoth Workflow
A Revit 2025 version has been introduced with a new home dashboard that is linked with the cloud data. This latest version is easier to understand with organized features and helps you to find your target in design and project without any inconvenience. Connection with the cloud data enables the user to store the designs online and can access them from anywhere. Further, you can also review the different designs and older versions for your projects. In short, this is the best edition for easy, faster and smoother working to save time.
2. Sheets Collection for Organized Data
Another feature, named sheet collections, has been added in the Revit 2025 version. It helps you to organize your sheets effectively and accurately. The rules and regulations of organising the sheets are the same, as one sheet can only be in one place at a time. However, a new feature, scheduling of sheets, has been added, where you can create and predefine empty sheets. When you add shop drawings to these sheets, Revit will automatically arrange them in the defined folder. This process of scheduling sheets has made the organization of data very easy and smooth. Now, instead of scrolling through many sheets, you have to search for your defined folder and then click on the relevant sheet.

3. Carbon Analysis with Revit Insights
Due to the sustainable building awareness at the global level, the construction industry faces challenges in constructing sustainable buildings. Revit 2025 version has a new feature to analyse the carbon footprints. This new tool allows the architects, contractors and engineers to evaluate the emission of carbon footprints with the help of real word 3D model.
To use this tool, open your Revit project, click on the analyze tab and then select total carbon analysis. You have to mention the building type, location, and energy settings so that the Revit insights can give you the best result. After having all these requirements, click on the run analysis, wait for a few seconds and then check the results on the inside dashboard in the form of charts and graphs. This helps you to make informed decisions to reduce the carbon footprint of your construction project.
4. Toposolid Enhancement for Better Modeling
Topo solid is linked with your ground surface work. It was introduced in 2024, but the 2025 version has many new additions
One of the sub-tools introduced for toposolid is the exacavate tool. This tool cuts the parts of the ground easily. These tools show the dig spaces for underground parking and basements, etc. The process of calculating the total space (excavating volume) for a defined place is also automatic, which helps the engineers and construction team to analyse the total cost of materials required to dig a place.
And another tool that has changed the ground modeling dimensions is Simplify TopoSolid. It helps to remove the uneven points on the drawings easily. For example, if you have too many uneven dots on the ground in your shop drawings, this tool allows you to give a command of your own choice in percentage to reduce these dots. In short, these tools help in simplifying the shop drawings for a better and easier understanding without altering details of the original design intent.
This is a time-saving tool and very helpful for creating the ground surface area in no time. What you have to do is pick a surface that may be flat or sloped, and then Revit will convert it into the toposolid. You don’t need to build it from scratch by embedding different points. If you have already created a land area in an earlier model, then you can use it again and again.
This tool is helpful for a better visualisation of ground, terrains and landscape projects.
The previous version of this tool was not refined like this one. Earlier, the grounds shop drawings had lines, edges and triangles. Removing the edges, lines, and such other materials doesn’t mean that it will alter the original shape of the ground; instead, it only refines the image quality and enhances the visualization on your screens in a better way without changing the original intent of the design.
5. Material Thumbnail Generator for Better Visual
In the previous version of Revit, the quality of the materials thumbnail was not good. Usually, they become blurry, and contractors cannot see the final look of the material. Keeping this point in account, the Revit 2025 version has launched a new feature known as the material thumbnail generator. This tool gives the user access to two types of models: one is quick rendering, and the other is production quality. You can use any of them as per your convenience. For example, if you are in a hurry and want to view the model quickly, then you can choose the quick rendering, but if you’re going to get the detailed look of materials with the specifications and clear visuals, then you have to select the production quality.
This has enhanced the work efficiency during the design process. The enhanced colours perfectly envision lines and sketches, helping the construction team to choose the best material that aligns with their projects.
Revit 2025 has introduced new features for the editing of families. The older version of it does not give this feature, and when you have to represent a family, then there is no option of selecting zero. But now you can choose the number of families from 0 onward according to your project demand.
Let’s use an example to clarify. Suppose a dining table is set up in a room with seats. If you are using your version, you have to choose at least two chairs to be shown in the model; there is no opportunity to change the number of seats. But the new version allows you to change it and choose an element within your desired range. You can create different models with zero to many chairs.
7. Batch Delete and Add to Library for Materials
This is also a time-saving and efficient feature which helps the BIM modellers to delete a batch of materials selectively from their model. Initially, the users have to click on each material one by one, and then they choose the delete option. The innovation of this feature has enable them to choose desired materials in one go from the material library and delete them from their model in just one click.
This feature is also time-saving and increases the efficiency of a BIM model, especially for interior and construction projects, where wall joining is made repetitively.
This functionality was absent from the previous edition. There is a misunderstanding among building contractors when a wall is completed and a new fence is erected in front of the primary wall, leaving gaps and voids. This feature has not only resolved these issues but also locked the walls. When a wall is edited to the main wall, then they are automatically joined and locked. It means when you have to move one wall, then the adjacent wall will also move with it, and you don’t need to do extra work.
Text alignment for multiple texts is a new feature that has been added in this version. It may look like a very small edition, but it is worth it for an efficient and time-saving workflow. In the previous version, you had to select each text which is on your model, such as the room numbers, any size or dimension, one by one, and then align them independently. But, now you can select all the text which are present on your model and then click on the Text Alignment option, then choose the required alignment, like right, left or centre. All of the text will be instantly aligned the same way.
This tool helps the designer to focus on the main design rather than the alignment issues, and enhances their product activities.
This is also a very minute but very effective addition. Now, you only need to modify an element’s property once, after which Revit will automatically take it into account for all of your other elements. When choosing a property for any component in the previous edition, you had to repeat the process for every piece. Now you only need to do it once, and Revit will remember and make the necessary adjustments for the remaining components.
